Urge Medical Education

We provide cutting edge content for doctors by doctors on the topic of persistent and recurrent UTI and related conditions.

What is Urge?

Urge is an educational platform for urologists, gynaecologists and all other medical practitioners who would like to learn cutting edge information on how to identify and treat persistent and recurrent UTI and related conditions, in order to enhance care for their patients. Urge provides three elements:

  • Events: ongoing lectures by doctors and scientists

  • Community: the opportunity for doctors to connect and exchange thoughts, questions and ideas on the topic of persistent UTI and related conditions through live events

  • Research: a repository of key research papers on the topic

Our mission is to help doctors help their patients lead better lives.

Why persistent UTI?

The topic of UTI bridges a significant patient need with an unmet medical opportunity. According to WHO, UTI is the leading cause of morbidity and healthcare expenditure in persons of all ages. It is among the most common infections and in some countries is the number one reasons for doctor visits. The condition disproportionately affects women, 50-60% of whom will have at least one UTI at some point in their lives. Of these, 26-44% are likely to have recurrence within the next 6 months.

For some, the problem will become recurrent, persistent and/or chronic. These patients are often misdiagnosed, leading to chronic pain, depression and significantly altered quality of life.

Today only few doctors are versed in the complexities of persistent, recurrent and chronic UTI and are overwhelmed with disproportionate patient demand relative to their capacity. We know this because we have interviewed both the desperate patients and the overworked doctors.

Urge aims to distribute the knowledge from pioneers in the field across the medical community at large, so as to enable more doctors to detect, diagnose, treat and even prevent this life-altering condition for their patients.

Who is Urge for?

Urge is designed for all medical practitioners from across the globe interested in learning more to help their patients with persistent or chronic UTI symptoms. This information can have a deep impact on a patient’s life, as it can mean the difference between a life of pain and depression and a potential pathway for treatment. For this important reason we want our content to be accessible to as many practitioners as possible, so our content is free for everyone, everywhere, always.

Why does Urge exist?

Urge was born out of the urgency to help the many patients suffering from debilitating persistent and recurrent UTI to find doctors who can help them. The condition is unfortunately often misdiagnosed as Interstitial Cystitis, Painful Bladder Syndrome or Overactive Bladder, leading to tremendous physical and mental suffering for patients and a sense of scarcity of medical recourse, support and options.

Today there is a vast imbalance between patient need and the amount of care available for persistent/ chronic UTI: there is a large patient population suffering from this condition and only few doctors versed in treating it.

Urge aims to help reduce this gap by empowering more practitioners to better identify, diagnose and treat persistent UTI, allowing them to change the lives of patients in a deeply significant way - and perhaps even pioneer new treatments and diagnoses of their own.
